The Sustainable Chemistry Catalyst plays an influential and trusted role in driving innovative, solutions-oriented scientific, policy, and market engagement approaches to addressing toxic chemical challenges. Our priorities include: Expanding the field of alternatives assessment to support informed substitution; developing innovative model policies to support government initiatives on chemical substitution and innovation in green/sustainable chemistry; and conducting research and analysis to support the development of strategies to address barriers and enablers for safer and sustainable chemistry. The Catalyst works in close collaboration with its affiliated organizations, the Association for the Advancement of Alternatives Assessment (A4), Change Chemistry, and the Massachusetts Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI) as well as non-profit, government, and business organizations to fulfill its priorities.

Change Chemistry (formerly Green Chemistry & Commerce Council)

Change Chemistry, formerly the Green Chemistry and Commerce Council (GC3), is a collaboration of more than 100 members that aim to make safer and sustainable chemistries widely available in the marketplace. Our members span diverse industries from leading chemical companies, brand manufacturers, and large retailers to innovative startups. We also engage with policymakers, non-profit organizations and consulting firms to advance our mission. Together, we’re transforming markets to create a strong demand for and supply of safer, more sustainable alternatives. We do this by collaborating on projects that breakdown barriers to safer chemistries, accelerate innovation and advance supportive policies. After 17 years as the Green Chemistry and Commerce Council, our organization has changed its name to Change Chemistry. Our new identity better represents the accomplishments of our members and today’s urgent need to accelerate the growth of green and sustainable chemistry solutions across the globe.
